- Go for zinc oxide or titanium based sunscreens if you have sensitive skin. The skin of some people does not react very well to sunscreens. In such a case, you can try a physical blocking sunscreen, which has proved to be less irritating. Moreover, it seems that they offer protection for a longer period of time.

- Consider organic sunscreens, for an all-natural experience. For those interested in taking out chemicals from their lives as much as possible, there are also organic sunscreens available on the market. They are usually based on zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, as mentioned above, in the sunscreens for sensitive skin. However, a lot of companies include chemicals in addition to these. I’m so embarrassed about my yellowing toenails.  Three have turned yellow on my left foot, and on my right foot it’s my big toenail that’s discolored.   I’m also noticing a change in texture.  My nails are no longer smooth and glossy looking but brittle, rough and thickened.  I can’t be sure, but one of them may even be twisting off the nail base.

Unfortunately after spending ages researching the condition on FungusFacts.com and other websites, I found out that I have Onychomycosis or nail fungus.  More specifically I have Distal Lateral Subungal Onychomycosis.  That long sounding name was enough to send me scuttling off to my doctor to discuss treatment options.

If nothing else works, it will have to be surgery.  But again although that will whip off my fungal nails immediately, I’ll still have to let my new nails grow out before my toes look anything like normal.

This overheating has been an issue for Nikon for quite some time, since they originally came out with the SB-900. For those that are unfamiliar with the problem, this is what happens. When you rapid-fire your flash on the SB 900 it is very successful in short bursts at doing what it does quickly and it is very quick to re-charge for an extended period of time but the unit will get hot. Nikon has built into it a shut off that became somewhat of a frustration for those people who have been early adopters to the SB 900.

With the introduction of the Nikon SB-910 Speedlight Flash, when it comes out in mid December of 2011, Nikon has taken at least one step towards making the overheating problem of the SB 900 go away. The way they approached this problem was to instead of shutting the flash off completely while the unit cooled, the SB 910 now senses that the unit is approaching a critical temperature and begins to space out how often it allows the flash to be used. In other words, slows the flash down so that the unit will not become inoperative due to the overheating.

This solution is probably not ideal and time will tell if the market will accept this limitation or look for solutions elsewhere but I think most people would agree that a company the size of Nikon is dedicating considerable resources to perfecting their flagship flash unit so we can be assured that this solution is the best cost versus weight versus convenience that is currently available. Whenever a big company like Nikon approaches a problem with one of their important products they had better dedicate considerable resources to fix it or else the truth is they probably won’t be in business very long.

That is a long explanation of the problem with the SB 900 but woven into that explanation is the solution that Nikon has come up with, at least for the short-term, and that solution has a name. The Nikon SB-910 Speed Flash and that solution will be available in Mid December 2011.

Well William, this one is actually rather easy and won’t break the bank!

The best way to keep your garage warm is to treat it like the rest of your home and use some insulation!  In my experience, the best place to target is the actual door areas and to do that I would look at installing some garage door insulation on the inside of the door and a flexible draught excluder on the bottom of the door so that it can still be open and closed correctly but won’t have any draughts getting in under the door.

The door insulation is the key for me though and an excellent do it yourself kit is the relatively cheap Owens Corning Garage Door Insulation kit.  It needs one kit per door so if you have a double garage then you will need two kits but it is still a nice and cheap alternative. Everything you need is included in the kit and it includes some really good instructions. This kit will give you an insulation value of R 8 which is pretty decent.  If you need to know more about insulation R values then check this great page out.

This is an issue I can relate to as I’ve experienced similar problems.   My issue came from my love of all things Dr Who and wanting to watch the latest episodes via the BBC Player web site.  However what you’ve probably discovered is that you can’t watch BBC Iplayer when you’re outside the UK.

The reason is that they only let people watch from within the United Kingdom and they enforce that by checking your IP address when you connect.   Those addresses that are not registered in the UK are not allowed to stream media from the majority of the BBC IPlayer content ( you can get quite a lot of the radio shows though).

This I discovered to my despair when I settled to check out the ‘New Doctor’ at the beginning of the last series.  The only other options were wait months before it was shown in the US by which time I’d have known the plot and ending from my UK based friends.

The solution is actually quite simple, you just need to obscure your real IP address and make sure that the one the BBC site sees is from the UK.    There are lots of services who can provide you with such an IP address using either a proxy or VPN service.   When you connect via these then your real location is hidden and you take on the location of the proxy server.  As long as that is in the United Kingdom then you’ll be fine.

Hi – hope someone can help me out.

My problem is that I need a new coffee machine but I get really confused by all the jargon out there.
